I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July! Mine was wonderful, spent with friends and family. There was quite a bit of food too π I ran in the local 5 mile race which was my 4th year participating in it!
Prerace dinner: cookout with all the family in town!
and another snack since I figured I needed some carbs π
For once I was prepared and laid my outfit out the night before!
Breakfast!
Okay, race time. It started at 8 so I went over at 7:30 to register and warm up. My goal was to break 35 minutes.
My first mile was around 6:30-40 and I felt like I was going to be able to hit my goal time. I turned my music on when I hit the first mile and just tried to focus on keeping a good pace!
The weather was almost perfect for racing! It was a chilly 45F when I woke up, but it warmed up to 54F when the race started. By the time I got done it was around 60F!
Thanks for being an awesome photographer mama- you da best!
My official time was 34:06. I won my age group and was the third woman overall!
After the race I had to march in the parade for marching band! Marching is seriously worse than running the race. Quads are so.heavy.
After the parade I headed over to my aunt’s for lunch!
Oh man, so much food. It’s one of my favorite meals the whole year!
The rest of the day was spent at the park! The Fourth is a big deal in my town and everyone goes to see the vendors, dog jumping show, and kids games. I actually fell asleep before the fireworks happened so I missed that part.. but otherwise it was such a fun day! A race, a parade, and walking around all day = I slept well last night!
How did you celebrate the fourth?

Italian?!? I better see some pics from this party π
Wow girl, I’m always amazed and impressed at how crazy fast you are! I participated in my local 5k on the fourth and won my age group, but my time was like 27 something. Haha, it was still loads of fun though! But anyway, congrats on your awesome run. You deserved the victory!
I fell asleep before the fireworks too, but then they woke me up and I ended up getting up to watch them. π
