I have so much food to share from my trip! But then I realized that I basically ate the same things everyday. The first couple days I was in food heaven. By the end of the week I was getting sick of the same options everyday. Nonetheless, I was still very happy with the choices I had!

Whew! Definitely huge meals, but I didn’t really snack in between them. I rarely had the time to so I made sure I ate enough at my meals! The quinoa ran out halfway through the week.. oops π I was so happy to see flax/chia/hemp!
How are/were your dorm food options in college?
Favorite ice cream flavor?
Mackinac Island Fudge.

That dorm food looks fantastic! It’s fancier than what I make at home, haha!
DAT ICE CREAM CONE THOUGH. Swoooon.
My favorite ice cream flavor is…oh gosh. Can I say like 4? Okay – Graham Central Station, Cinnamon Oatmeal Cookie, Phish Food, and my ALL TIME FAVE: good ‘ole vanilla with sprinkles. π
Have a wonderful day!

Okay I have never had any of those flavors (except for vanilla with sprinkles) but I MUST try them!! I’ll just come down to Georgia and we can go together π happy wednesday girly!
WOW I’m suppperrrrrr impressed at how great your eats have been! That french toast looks to die for and your oatmeal bowls are beautiful and loaded up with SO many goodies!
Thanks girly! I was totally okay with going a week without eating my normal goodies. But then I see quinoa/flax/chia and I’m like YES!
I’m drooling. Omigosh your eats looked sooo awesome Leigha! Especially the waffle/ice cream combo <3
Liz @ Carpe Diem and Run recently posted…Monday Miles #21
Thanks Liz! Waffle + ice cream is honestly one of the best combos I’ve ever tried. The hot waffle with the cold ice cream…. omg. Amazing.
I have never seen such healthy dorm food!!! Ahhh I am totally jealous, your eats look delicious. I am definitely on a quinoa kick lately. Ancient grains for the win. Are you eating vegetarian or just eating less meat? What are your motivations for eating less meat? I am reading a book about the true intelligence of animals and it’s been 2 weeks now that I’ve eliminated meat. I’m just trying to figure out what to call myself. Anyway, happy Wednesday π

I’m not strictly vegetarian but I didn’t eat meat while at camp! I don’t like to eat meat if I don’t know where it came from, especially if it’s probably in bulk. But I’m not going to do no meat at all because I still love my sloppy joes! Plus it’s hard if you go to potlucks or something. Don’t worry about calling yourself anything; you don’t need to label yourself!! You could say you eat a plant based diet. And if you want to eat meat please don’t deny yourself!
That’s what I’m going for- just eating more plants and less animals. I think you’re definitely right about not needing a label of any kind- it’s too restricting, especially with recovering and all. I was just curious what you were doing nowadays π

Yeah! A lot of meat does truly gross me out, but if it sounds good I’m going to eat some π there is something called “flexitarian” too – that’s what I’d call myself if I wanted to call myself something!
Sounds like you experienced your first real dorm food π good food but very little variety. Luckily in college you don’t always have to eat there and there is alittle more variety than if your just there for a camp. Everything still looks delicious!
Chickgettinfit recently posted…WIAW #24
Exactly. Good food, no variety! But hey, at least I could eat healthy!
All of your meals look great, hun! I’m heading into my junior year of college, and I’ve been very lucky with my school’s dining hall. I am both gluten free and vegan, and there are ALWAYS plenty of options for me. Make-your-own-stirfry, a plethora of roasted veggies, beans, and grains, and daily vegan soups. Actually, I think the dining hall’s sauteed kale is better than my own! I’m actually moving into the on-campus vegan co-op next semester, though, so I’ll be off the meal plan. Can’t wait to be able to cook in a kitchen, though! That’s one thing I’ve really missed while I’m at school.
Have a great day, love! xoxo

Wait – on-campus vegan co-op?! Where are you going to college? haha! I really admire you for being vegan AND gluten free. I don’t think I could do it!
Haha yeah, isn’t it great? It’s basically a house owned by the college (I go to Vassar, a small liberal arts school in NY) with ~20 people. We cook our own meals (vegan communal dinners 5x per week) and do all of our own cleaning. I can’t wait to move in! The dining hall has been great to me, but being able to cook my own food will take away a big source of stress for me.
Well, thank you! Gluten-free by necessity, vegan by choice π

WHOA that dorm food looks legit!! I adore your hearty breakfasts. I can’t help but laugh when I see people get a muffin and a piece of fruit for breakfast. How are they not starving two minutes later?!
Dorm food at BU is pretty darn good. (Omelette station on point.) I WAS looking for the peanut butter when I was there at orientation, but I found it on my last day. I’ll probably be bringing my own though π
Favorite ice cream flavor: mint cookies and cream.
Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves recently posted…WIAW: Feelinβ Fancy in the Kitchen
They had an omelette station too! But I didn’t really feel like doing any flipping, haha π And I agree – if I end up going there I’ll have to bring some of my own nut butter – they only had creamy and crunchy. And no almond or sunbutter!
Wow i’m super impressed with how well they fed you – so many nutritious tasty meals! I’ll eat just about any ice-cream with chocolate in it haha!
Anything with chocolate is always a good choice π
I’ve always been pretty happy with my cafeteria food, but I don’t think it even begins to top yours! I love all the chia and quinoa. I never would have guessed a cafeteria to have such healthy options! I guess my cafeteria generally does pretty well at lunch, but I feel like my only breakfast options are oatmeal or a bagel, ha! Thankfully those are two things I love. π
That ice cream looks downright incredible!! It’s hard for me to pick a favorite ice cream flavorβ¦ I love mint chip, chocolate (especially double chocolate/chocolate fudge), cookie dough, caramel, pistachio,,, I just plain love ice cream! π
Alex@vegginout recently posted…Italy 2014 – Part 2
Oh, there were SO many options at breakfast… cereal bar, belgain waffles, yogurt bar, bread/bagels… and then whatever the cooks made for the hot meal!
Haha, all ice cream is good π
yum the food you get here at those places is junk like chip and chicken nuggets.Im wanting to get into running didtance and at the min i walk run which is great but i want to get better and i want to be able to run without stopping to walk to any advice im starting to get up at 7 to run early before breakfast tomorow (ive been staying with friends so couldnt today) π
That’s awesome you wake up early to run! And it even better that you didn’t worry about not running when you’re with friends π
thanks π

I’m always really surprised when I eat in the dorm, the food is actually not too bad! I lived at home this year so I rarely ate in the cafeteria, but when I did it was pretty good. Favorite ice cream flavors are birthday cake, cookies ‘n cream, moose tracks, rocky road… oh my gosh so many. π
Melanie recently posted…Happy 4th!
I looove moose tracks π hope you had a good fourth!
All of that food looks so delicious! When I went to Purdue for a semester they had THE BEST food. Make your own pizza, pasta, stir-fry, AND grinders. I was in food heaven.
