Just when I thought spring was finally coming, BANG we get hit with this pounding of snow that lasted until the afternoon. No thank you!
Anyways, I’ve been meaning to do a “day in the life” post for a while, so here is my day as a high school sophomore during basketball season! It’s kind of going with the theme of wanting to be more present on here… now you can know what I’m doing every moment of the day π I figured I’d link up with WIAW and share my meals too. Head over to Peas and Crayons for more meal ideas!!
7:20: First alarm! Snooooze.
7:29: Second alarm..
7:35: Get up, get dressed, make smoothie (pb banana oatmeal smoothie with kale added).
7:50: Leave for school. Drive slowly because the roads are terrible!
8:05-9:04: Drink my smoothie in biology. Today is all about bacteria!
9:09-10:08: US History. CNN Student News and a test on World War II and The Holocaust (which I LOVE learning about!) last week we watched Schindler’s List.
10:13-11:12: English class. Read Huck Finn. I also finished the book The Tiny One by Eliza Minot and started Charlie St. Cloud!
11:25: Get home and eat lunch which today is half a sweet potato topped with leftover black bean soup, avocado, and greek yogurt with a piece of cornbread. It hit.the.spot.
11:45: Leave for my college class.
12-12:50: Calc II! I know I should go into math because I could sit in this class all day and be happy. Right now we’re leaning about simple differential equations like population growth and radioactive decay.
1:00-1:16: Drive back to the high school going about 45 the whole way because terrible roads.
1:16-1:48: Choir. I β₯ to siiiing!
1:53-2:51: Band. I’m in percussion, in case you didn’t know!
3:08: Get home from school and eat a snack!
The rest of my green smoothie that didn’t fit in the mason jar and a banana snack bar with avocado and the last of my Wild Friends vanilla espresso almond butter π it’s a sad day when you run out of your $15 jar of almond butter!
3:25-4:07: 8 minute abs, get ready for practice, get distracted by playing the piano then taking pictures of the cats.
4:30-6: Practice. Get ready for our district game which is today!
6-7:15: Team dinner!
7:30-10: Write this, read other blogs, check emails, Pinterest, basically just do a bunch of things on the computer. I really want to start getting to bed earlier because I feel like I’m not getting enough sleep lately! I just get so pulled in by all the websites…
10-11: Get ready for bed, get oats soaking for breakfast, pick out an outfit, write in my journal, and do some stretching. There may have been a small piece of cake eaten.. #noregrets.
11: BED! A little later than I’d have liked but I can still get eight hours of sleep if I fall asleep quickly (which is how my mind works every night – calculate my hours of sleep:).
I hope you guys liked this peek into my life! Feel free to ask me any questions you have or any post ideas you’d like to see me do. As for the rest of the week, I have a game today and if we win, the district championship on Friday. Hopefully our season won’t be over just yet!
What time do you go to bed/wake up?
Do you have snow where you live?
What is your favorite easy lunch?
I’m always looking for ideas besides leftovers!

Thanks.. π
Wow busy girl! I seriously thought that spring was on its way too… until yesterday. I couldn’t believe the winter storm we got!! Good luck tonight!
Right?! Thanks Brie!
Other than my fear of cats, we’re a lot a like! I love learning about history during WWII, especially the Holocaust and even got to take a class called the Holocaust in college (awesome!). (you should read Between Shades of Grey…not to be confused with 50 Shades of Grey!!) I also took college classes in high school and loved math:) I played the piano, basketball and love reading and running. You really should come visit!!
Oh no, not a fear of cats! haha π that class sounds so cool! And I’ve actually heard of that book.. I completely forgot about it until you just reminded me! Now I’ll have to go check it out at the library!
I didn’t realize how similar we actually are!! Also, I’m seriously considering coming to visit.. should I start looking at plane tickets?!
The basketball cake is sooo cool! π your a busy girl! but basketball is worth it π we have the same proble with snow I mean HELLO where is spring?! I love posts like this π its given me an idea of a post too!
It’s March, I’m ready for spring now! π thanks Lucy!
Love this little peek into your life!
Leftovers are my favorite for lunch, too. I also love making a big salad with grilled chicken for lunch. Whenever we grill chicken for dinner, I’ll make some extra and chop it up for salads. If I have fajita chicken, I’ll make a southwestern salad with corn, black beans, tomatoes, red onion, etc. or if I have herb chicken, I’ll make a Greek salad with cucumbers, feta, tomatoes, etc. I love my lunch salads!
Those are some awesome ideas! I’m not a huge fan of chicken, but I bet if I just cooked some quinoa then threw it in with those ingredients that’d be delish π
The hardest part of your posts is that I never know what to comment on to still keep things to an appropriate lenghts. Okay, let’s try this:
1. Your cats are adorable and make me wish my parents still had some living with them.
2. Schindler’s List was hard to watch for me. A great movie but it had me lost in my thoughts and reflecting for days. Living in Germany, I obviously learned about our history in school but I was interested in it beyond that, too, and read many books on my own to learn more. It’s hard to fathom all of it.
Ending on a light-hearted note I’m like you: calculating how much sleep I can still possibly get before I go to sleep.
Haha, thanks girl!
1. LOVE my kitties. I don’t know what I’m gonna do when I go off to college!
2. I always wondered what it’s like learning about the Holocaust living in Germany. It just fascinates me so much! I hope I can visit places like Auschwitz someday.
Haha! Glad I’m not alone π
That looks super busy! Love those cats, btw! π
Thanks! They’re too cute to not share π
OMG ! You are so lucky you get to learn about the Holocaust! I wish I could! JEALOUS! Haha π
I just got braces Monday like you and they sure did hurt the first two days! Do you have any tips on how to clean, care, why to eat, coping with pain etc. that you could share? Thanks! BTW I love your blog, keep up the good work!
Hi Emily! I actually have a post about braces that I’d like to get up soon π thank you for the feedback!!
what to eat*****
You’re so lucky you get to go home for lunch! I would’ve loved that in HS. Also, I cannot believe you are in Calc II. Omg. The highest math I took was prob & stats/discrete. And you’re only a sophomore! Jealous π
Technically we’re not supposed to go home for lunch… but since I have to leave anyway I just make a little detour at home π
Unfortunately math in high school is NOTHING like math in university.. there are no more numbers anymore lol it’s literally all just variables and theorems.. I would think carefully before pursuing that path.
Yeah, I don’t mind the letters and proofs π
I go to bed between 10 and 11, and I get up at 4:50 every school day π I most definitely have snow – ick – but I’m still hoping to fit in 8 miles tomorrow!
I really liked this post – I always love seeing people’s routines π
I eat oatmeal for lunch every day, so I’m not sure how helpful that is. Good luck at districts!
4:50?! Girl, that’s insane! Props to you! I hope your run went great π
All of your eats look soooo yummy. I loved team dinners in high school π I hope the all district game went well!!
Thanks Sally! We ended up losing but it was still so much fun π
