I’m back home from almost a week in Lansing! All I had time for when I got home was a quick run and then I went to my basketball banquet to close the season.
Potlucks will always be the best. Here are my runs from last week! While I didn’t actually run through Lansing, I ran in my hotel gym. I would have loved to run in the capital but something about a teenaged girl running alone in a city doesn’t sound the smartest. π

- 4 x 200 (:43 each) with 200 jog in between
Doing speedwork on the treadmill was hard. But it felt great to get it done and it gave me motivation that I hit my splits! The one good thing about speedwork on the treadmill is that it forces you to run the right pace instead of going out really fast which is what I usually do.
4 miles total + a couple of misc arm exercises (arm curls, shoulder shrugs, tricep extensions(?)) + shameless gym selfies
Saturday
5 treadmill miles @ 8:09 avg (Ina Garten and The Best Thing I Ever Ate: Ice Cream Edition got me through this one)
8 minute abs
5 minutes of planks (1:30 front, 1:00 side, 1:00 other side, 1:30 front)
Sunday
Back home to the snow! 8 miles @ 7:55 avg with Mom on her bike.
8 minute abs
Total Miles: 32
I’m really looking forward to having a kitchen back this week! I’ve eaten out for like 10 of my last 15 meals and as much as I like trying new restaurants, I am anxious to get back to my own (inexpensive) kitchen. I’m planning on having a recap of my trip up in the next few days then I have a fun recipe coming on Friday!
As for today I have to write the final draft of my research paper after track practice so I’m hoping it won’t be too late of a night. Talk to you lovelies soon!
Emma @ life's a runner says
I actually barely run on the treadmill at all, because I feel obligated to take advantage of the beautiful weather we’ve been having in Vancouver! I’m expecting to show up to a blizzard when I go home in May, so I’m just preparing for the worst, I guess. π
That speed work looks AMAZING! I tried putting the treadmill to a 6:00 pace about a year ago, nearly flew off, and never did again. You rock!
Leigha says
Oh I know, a huge part of why I run is to get outside and get fresh air!
It wasn’t easy! I felt like a rockstar when I finished though π
Can we just talk about how freaking fast you are for a second? I can’t even run 5 miles at a 7:55 pace – heck, there were some 5ks where I struggled! You rock, Leigha π
Thanks! I really think the weights are making a difference! π
Ooo girl, look at those muscles!! So excited that you’re doing strength training. I hope it makes you feel awesome! And as always, killing the running π
I’m only a few weeks in but I seriously already feel a difference! I feel so much stronger when I’m running!
You were right the other day in class when you said 2 minute planks are easy. 5 minutes must be brutal! Im lucky if I can get past 2 minutes haha
Hahaha! I did five minutes yesterday but had to take a few breaks. My arms felt like exploding!
