You guys are seriously so awesome. I did not expect my last post to be received so well but I was blown away by all of your support!!
If you’ve been reading for a while you’ve probably noticed that my posts have been pretty scarce in the last few months. If you follow me on Instagram (which you should:) you’ve noticed that I post almost everyday. I guess I kind of forgot that many blog readers don’t follow me or even have Instagram, so they’re missing out on all of those little insights into my life.
Starting now I’m going to be trying to put more effort into the blog itself. I’m not sure exactly what that means, but for now it might just be sharing more random life things. So, here are some things from this weekend!
I didn’t have school last Friday so I started the day with a wonderful long run. I wanted to get at least seven miles, but I felt great so I just kept going. Ended with 12 in 1:41.
I ran in my new The North Face windstopper pants – highly recommended!
And refueled with toast, an egg, banana/almond butter, and a big smoothie.
Later on Friday I went to the Y (just got a membership!) to do some strength training! My track coach gave me a program that I’ve started doing. I can share more if you guys are interested! Also, would you guys want a “weekly workouts” type of post? I think it would be fun to do. It would also be nice so I can keep track for myself since I’m really bad with that!
Friday night was the big rivalry game! My school ended up winning 51-50… it was a ton of fun.
Then we went to Taco Bell and a team sleepover which I forgot to take pictures of!
On the go breakfast of Saturday:
And then this…
The team and I volunteered at the Special Olympics!
After that I went out for lunch with mom.. yum.
But the bananas foster bread pudding?! I died.
There are no words to express the insane love I had for that. It WILL be recreated soon, hopefully a little bit healthified!
I worked on Saturday night so not much to say about that.
Sunday started with church and then the usual.
I waited a little while for it to warm up then went out for a quick five miles!
I had game tape for basketball, did my strength training, volunteered at the local tournament, did some baking…
Then had dinner – spicy black bean chili (made in the crockpot), baked sweet potato fries, and buttery cornbread! Sooo good, you guys. It hit the spot. And we have leftovers which will be great for easy meals this week!
It was actually my first time making sweet potato fries at home. I’ll definitely be making them again! And since you can’t have Sunday dinner without dessert…
This recipe in case you’re wondering. Coffee instead of Kahlua!
This week will be pretty busy. The regular season of basketball is done now, and we have our first district game on Wednesday and then Friday if we win. So hopefully you won’t be hearing from me because that means I’ll still be playing and won’t have time to post!
I hope everyone has a great week! Fill me in on what’s happening in your lives because I feel like I haven’t talked to you guys about regular life in forever!

They’re banana snack bars! I can’t wait to post the recipe 🙂
Hey Leigha!
I am a long time reader and think you are super inspiring and smart for such a young lady! Your posts are always so heartfelt and mature, so brava to you! I have been wondering what your pancake recipe is…is it posted somewhere?
Stay delightful!
xo
Hi Ali!
Thanks for being a great reader and for that sweet comment 🙂 For my pancakes I usually just use Bob’s Red Mill 7 grain pancake and waffle mix and add a mix of water, almond milk, chia seeds, and cinnamon until it’s pancake batter consistency then cook them over medium/high heat with coconut oil. Top with whatever you like, my favorites being peanut butter, banana, chia seeds, hemp seeds, and maple syrup 🙂
I would definitely love to see your weekly workouts! I find your running / amazing athletic ability super inspirational so it would be great to see what you do on a regular basis. 🙂 I had a similar run to yours on Friday – I only wanted to do 7, but I ended up with 10. Such a hardcore feeling!
Annnd I think I now need to try that with Kaluha…I’m of age in Alberta. It’s okay! 😉 Hope you have an amazing Monday!
Thanks girl! Woohoo! Those runs are the best 😀 haha, let me know how you like it with Kahlua! I’ve still got a few years before I can try that 😉
Nice work on your 12 miler! I love those days where running feels so good and you just want to keep on going longer 🙂 Your bars and your chocolate cake look insane- do I spy coffee ice cream, too?! We’d get along so well in real life 🙂
Thanks Liv! Yes you do 🙂 I’m not a fan of real coffee, but I love anything coffee-flavored! I hope we can meet in real life!!
I want alllllll the food you have here. Seriously— avocado toast, pancakes, bananas foster bread pudding (!!), cornbread… This is all just glorious.
I definitely feel ya with the busy weeks, girl. But you’re doing awesome!! So cool that you’re doing more strength training now too!
Totes thought of you when I had the bread pudding. It just seemed right up your alley 🙂 thanks girl! It’s addicting!
I always get excited when people say they join the Y because I work for the YMCA and workout there 🙂
Haha! I never realized what a neat place it is!
I really want to see your strength program! I have been doing a strength class for a few months now and it’s really made a difference, but I am just getting bored. It’s just the time of year and everything but I need to mix it up!
Strength class would be so fun! It gets boring doing everything alone, haha 🙂 I’m hoping to do a post on it soon! 🙂
