I hope everyone’s been having a great weekend! Yesterday was crazy busy (ACT, run, lift, work) but today was just the opposite and wonderfully relaxing. Some pancakes, playing piano at church, grocery shopping, baking, and dinner at Grandma’s.
Here are my runs from last week! It was a pretty intense one and my body could really tell by the end of the week. After finishing writing this I’m heading to bed early to try to catch up on some sleep!
Monday
Pre-meet
1 mile warm up + dynamic warm up
4 x 200m @ 37ish + 200m jog
5 x 100m strides
Probably around 3 miles total.
Light core exercises – no burpees, wall sits, jumping jacks, or ice skaters
Tuesday
First track meet! Read more about it here. For the sparknotes:
- 3200m: 12:17
- 1600m: 5:41

With all the warm up and cool down laps I probably had about 6 miles total for the day!
Wednesday
1.3 mile warm up + dynamic warm up
2.7 miles easy (1.5ish of them on a trail)
4 total @ 8:06 avg
Didn’t feel the best! It was really hot and my legs felt heavy.
Lifting:
- 2 x 10 105# box squat
- 2 x 10 65# bench press
- 2 x 5 75# power clean
- 2 x 10 60# leg curls + extensions

- arm curls, hyperextensions, etc

Thursday
1.6ish mile warm up
Hills. 6 x going up a big hill and around a loop which is about .75 miles. After we did 4 x sprint up the steepest part. To be honest, I wanted to cry at some points. It didn’t hurt, I was just feeling emotional. ha.
7 miles total

Friday
1.25 mile warm up + dynamic warm up
alternating 400’s and 200’s:
1:23, :38, 1:25, :39, 1:25
THEN a round of jumping lunges and some other things that I don’t remember.
:39, 1:24, :40, 1:25, :38
cooldown to get to 4 miles total.
Even though I had quality speedwork I was feeling bad about “only” getting in 4 miles. My coach reassured me that it’s not all about mileage and I felt much better!

Saturday
7 miles @ 8:20 avg
I knew from the start it wasn’t going to be a good run. Since I took the ACT in the morning I couldn’t run early and had to go in the heat (not really that hot but I’m not used to it yet:) I think I was a bit dehydrated and my stomach hurt. I was just happy to be done!
Lifting:
- 2 x 10 95# parallel squat
- 2 x 10 65# bench press
- 2 x 10 95# hex bar dead lift + shoulder shrugs
- same as Wednesday for auxilaries
- core
Worked from 5-10:30 as well. I have not slept that well for a while!
Sunday
off
Total miles: 30
And that’s about it! I’ve got a recipe comin’ atcha on Wednesday and will hopefully get some other posts up too. I literally have like 10 posts planned but I have to take the time to write and sort photos!
