Have you ever had one of those races where you’re just happy to be running in such a beautiful place and feel like you could run forever? This was mine.
Back in July I ran in the Run the Keweenaw 25k in Copper Harbor. (More about the trip here!) It was organized perfectly, the course was great, and I can’t wait to go back next year (and maybe do the hat trick – all three races!).
First – the prerace dinner!
We went to Harbour Haus (super fancy!) and it was well worth it. I mean… just look at the food.
My main course was pesto alfredo penne with a ton of veggies. Ahhhmazing.
And after a good night’s rest I work up early to run!
The race started at 8. Luckily I got done before the real heat of the day came. Here are pictures!!
And here are non-iPhone pictures. Photo creds to Dad!! You rock dude.
2:48:56 for 15.5 miles! A 10:54 pace which I’m pretty happy with considering it was all trails and I took a couple breaks.
I won a cool picture frame and a Salomon tank top! Other people won running shoes, water backpacks, more clothes.. the awards were pretty insane.Brunch afterwards was very much appreciated. A local restaurant was serving it for the race so the runners all walked over and ate!
It was such a great run and I’m so thankful for everything that went into it – the trip, the race organizers, and my ability to run. It was one of those runs where I realized that running is a huge part of my life and I can’t imagine living without it.
I don’t know where else to put this but I only fell once!!! ?

Great job and fantastic pictures! I’m just someone who stumbled on your blog and I’m so glad I did! I think I got hooked because I grew up summers in Michigan…my favorite childhood memories. We were in southwest corner, Watervliet on Paw Paw Lake. LOVED IT. My grandparents had a golf course on the lake, it was marvelous! The rest of the year we grew up in Florida. Not sure how I would survive Michigan winters π

That’s so cool!! I absolutely love “meeting” people through blogging π I’ve never been down to the southwest corner – Battle Creek is the farthest I’ve gone!

It amazes me how beautiful it was! Yep.. the food was great π
