Hello! It’s Thursday night here in my dorm and for once I don’t have any homework that absolutely needs to be done right now. This past weekend I ran in the half marathon in the Mount Bohemia Trail Running Festival!!
I know I should have at least mentioned it but it was a spur of the moment thing. I found out about it Wednesday, signed up Thursday, and went on Saturday. I was actually my longest training run for another half I’m doing in a few weeks!
I wanted to go up early on Saturday to look at all the colors but it did not stop raining the whole. day. So Mikey and I left to make it in time for the pasta dinner.
Everyone helping out at the event was so friendly and helpful. We drove around a little bit before it got dark and hung out in the main lodge (where there was wifi).
We stayed in a yurt which was so cool. I wouldn’t really want to have one as a regular home, but it was a fun experience!
Sunday morning at 9 am we were off!
So if you don’t know, Mount Bohemia is a ski resort tucked wayyy up north. I’ve never been skiing there myself, but after going there this weekend I’m definitely going to go sometime this winter. In the fall, they have a “color tour” where you can go up the chairlift and see some amazing colors, which I’ll put up another post for soon!
My Garmin didn’t get my location until a half hour in so I just focused on taking in the trails and not worrying about my time (especially because literally half of the run was uphill). I also probably need to work on my form.
I have NEVER walked so much during a run!!
You got to the summit around 4 miles in. I stopped for some pictures and gatorade before heading back down for the rest of the run. I enjoyed it a lot. No pressure, just me and my thoughts.
Since my Garmin was wrong I was expecting I still had another mile when I crossed the finish line! I finished in 2:30 which is not my best time, but, like, still – I ran a half marathon!
Once we got back into town Mikey and I were starving. We were very disappointed when we found out the place we had been planning to go to all weekend was closed because it was Sunday…..we still had a great meal though at the Kaleva Cafe! π
I will be back SOON with more pictures!!
