Tuna Cakes with Greek Yogurt Dill Sauce

01/22 by Leigha 30 Comments

Fashion Friday {1/20 - 1/23}
MIMM - Birthday filled Weekend

No traditional WIAW today because, frankly, I’ve been eating the same thing since Saturday. Leftover pasta is the name of the game!

Hopefully, this will be the last recipe I share that is taken with an iPhone. The reason? I bought a camera! A Canon Rebel T3i, to be exact! I’ve been wanting to get a real camera for who knows how long, and I finally bit the bullet. Goodbye, life savings…

Anyway, since the whole feeling blah since Christmas, I’ve been craving light, healthy meals. These tuna cakes with a greek yogurt dill sauce fit the bill perfectly, without leaving me starving an hour later!

tuna cakes

I served them over a bed of sauteed spinach, but I bet these would be great eaten as a burger or crumbled in a salad!

The best part? They come in at 300 calories for two! Actually 295, if you want to get that technical. Plus they are packed with protein!

For the cakes
  1. 1 5 oz can of tuna
  2. 1/4 cup oats
  3. 1 tbsp brown spicy mustard
  4. 1 egg
  5. 1/8 tsp salt
  6. 1/8 tsp pepper
  7. 2 tsp dried onion
  8. 1 tsp garlic powder
For the sauce
  1. 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt
  2. 1/2 tsp dill
  3. lemon juice
Instructions
  1. Heat a pan over medium heat and spray with nonstick oil.
  2. Mix the tuna, oats, egg, mustard, and spices in a bowl.
  3. Either form by hand or use a pancake mold like I did. Cook for about 4-5 minutes and then flip.
  4. Make the sauce by combining greek yogurt with dill spice and lemon juice.
  5. Top cakes with the sauce and serve!

I’m really kind of embarrassed of these pictures, but the recipe is too good not to share! Maybe I’ll redo it when I get the new camera πŸ˜‰ Well, I’ll see you on Friday! I’ll be busy today and tomorrow with exams… joy.

What kind of a camera do you use?

Do you like tuna?

I love tuna, but only canned – the tuna steaks have a weird texture and gross. me. out. I love that this is a recipe other than tuna salad using cans! I will definitely have to try them out. πŸ™‚

I don’t think I could eat a tuna steak! I like these cakes because the tuna isn’t too detectable. Let me know if you try ’em! πŸ™‚

Ooohhh a camera how exciting!! (: After seeing your picture on instagram, I decided to try these out for my late lunch. I used salmon instead of tuna. They turned out great!! SO yummy (: Except they kind of fell apart so I had chunks, not burgers πŸ™ Oh well, still just as delicious- just not quite so pretty (:

I’m honestly making these tomorrow. I recently rediscovered tuna, and I’m not ashamed to say that I eat it way too often. I also had a greek yogurt/dill sauce with Greek food before, and it’s seriously amazing. These are so perfect! Even though you thought your pictures were bad, you have me wanting to eat one asap!

    have a lovely wednesday!!

Great recipe! I love tuna and so does my dad so I will be pinning these for the future πŸ™‚

And good-looking pictures! I use my cellphone still, and I got a camera for canon camera for Christmas although I’ve not yet seen proof that it takes better pictures than my Android.
