I guess I did that whole taper thing right this week.
Yesterday I was lucky enough to be the winner of the MHSAA Upper Peninsula State Finals.
I still can’t believe it. I feel like I’m going to wake up from this dream and have to redo the race again!
I wanted to talk about a few things from the race as a place for me to look back on in the future!
The night before the race we had a team dinner. (Thanks for having it, Mrs. Hubert!)
Pasta is honestly my weakness. 2.5 pieces of lasagna, 2 plates of spaghetti, a salad, garlic bread, and 2 scotcheroos. No control. You’d think I was running a marathon the next day π
We picked pumpkins too!
Race morning I had the usual breakfast:
Overnight oats topped with chia, hemp, buckwheat, and sunbutter.
My race was at 12:45 and it actually snowed during the boys’ race. It was in the 30’s the whole day!
After I ran I had to do an interview with a tv station and pretty sure I rambled for like five minutes. Post race adrenaline!
Oh yeah… my time was 19:52! A new PR and it’s a hard course! We ran there last year too.
We went to get a quick bite to eat before the awards ceremony.
I got a vegan sandwich with veggies and cashew spread and mom got the grilled cheese with spinach.

Then shopping and trying a new restaurant!
Spinach lentil soup with 5 seed bread and dessert of the day. Very tasty!
When we finally got home I was so tired nothing sounded better than getting to bed. Today has been spent relaxing and getting ready for this week.
I just can’t believe how blessed I am to have been able to win the UP Finals! It’s a dream come true and I couldn’t be more happy to have had this opportunity. I can’t imagine a better way to end cross country season.

WOW! Congratulations on your AWESOME win! In Ontario they have something similar but it is called OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association) I’m not old enough to go yet but will when I can!
Your blog motivates me so much to run and stay healthy, after coming across it, I did a mini workout and I’m going for a run now! (even though I run sometimes before this)
I was never really a fan of running but now I feel like I wanna eat, sleep and breath it! Haha.
